Celebrate with us at 9:30AM every Sunday... in-person, on YouTube or on Facebook!

Beginning July 20th, The Fountains and “Together We Care” are co-sponsoring The 21-Day Racial Equity Habit-Building Challenge. Developed by racial justice educators Debby Irving (link), Dr. Eddie Moore, Jr (link), and Dr. Marguerite Penick-Parks, it is a program that provides a curated list of links to readings, podcast excerpts, and video clips, that, over the course of 21 days, will help participants deepen their understanding of racism and examine their own biases.

Participants are invited to begin the challenge on Monday, July 20th and continue for 21 days. Links to the daily material will be available on The Fountains’ website: www.weputlovefirst.org. While undertaking this challenge on your own can be very effective, we are also providing an opportunity for dialogue with others. The daily material will be reinforced with optional weekly Zoom video-conference conversation. Facilitators will include the Rev. Kimberly Scott of Crossroads United Methodist (the first African American woman elder ordained in the Desert Southwest Conference of the United Methodist Church) and members of TWC Fountain Hills  (organizers of the recent “Together We Care” march in Fountain Hills).

There’s no need to register to simply participate in the challenge on your own. Just follow along each day, take in the material, and consider how listening to and hearing the voices of others can change your worldview and plant the seeds of racial equity and a passion for systemic justice.

WEEKLY CONVERSATION

To help participants deepen their understanding of each week’s material, each week will culminate with a ZOOM video conference facilitated by leaders familiar with the material and the experience of being Black in America. To participate in the ZOOM conversations, you’ll need to register ahead of time. Email welcome@weputlovefirst.org with “21 Day Challenge” in the subject line and request a link and password for the Adult Track or Youth Track.
  • Adult Track Video Conference: 7 pm on Sundays July 26, August 2 and August 9, facilitated by Rev. Kimberly Scott
  • Youth Track Video Conference, 12 noon on Sundays July 26, August 2 and August 9, facilitated by members of “Together We Care”

Don’t forget! To participate in the ZOOM video conference, email welcome@weputlovefirst.org and request a link and password for the 21-day Challenge (Adult Track or Youth Track).

Together we can help bring about the change that is necessary to make America’s promise of liberty, justice, and true equality for all a reality.
